Broadcast: The TV Doodles of Henry Flint
This is something intriguing and new for me. I'm going to be working with the awesome Henry Flint on his upcoming art book. I've been a freelance copywriter since forever, so this is pretty much my wheelhouse, but this is the first time in a while that I've had the opportunity to use my powers for good.
It's Henry's personal work and will take a look at the stories behind the art, Henry's creative process, and, perhaps more scarily, explore the receiving equipment inside his head!
The book will be published by Markosia, and it's their first art book, but when Harry Markos heard about that the book was looking for a new publisher he leapt at it, being a big fan of Henry's work himself.
The book will contain around 100 pieces of Henry's personal work.
I will be working closely with Henry to write the text and translate the transdimensional creation process behind these beauties for human readers, and believe me when I say these pictures are a hallucinatory mix of the disarming and the disturbing.
Henry Flint, for the benefit of any non-comics readers, is responsible for some truly staggering artwork. He has amassed credits in books from Vertigo, Wildstorm and Dark Horse - to say nothing of his truly epic body of 2000AD work. My job in all this will be to provide the text to go with the images, exploring the process from inspiration to final expression and doing my best to understand how a man with things like the image below in his head can somehow still function in an essentially rational world:
